Life: filled and overflowing

I think this is one of those posts you are supposed to do around Thanksgiving…but who says you have to limit your thankfulness to a particular season! Looking back over the last year, Alan and I have a ton to be thankful for.

We have been blessed with amazing friends and family who have been so supportive through our years of working way too much and spending way too little time with them.Thank you, we love each and every one of you!

We have been blessed by the wonderful people we have met through our photography. We have had the opportunity to get to know so many people and hear so many stories. I love stories, I love being able to catch a glimpse into other people’s stories and help them tell their own stories through the pictures we take. Our clients have inspired me again and again through their stories, their lives and kindness!

Our business has been growing like crazy and we are so thankful to those of you who have been instrumental in that growth. Whether you have done work for us, been a teacher for us, or have been a sounding board as we work though ideas…we are thankful to you for the role you have played. Many of you know that I have been full time with our photography biz for a year and a half. Beginning in April, Alan will officially move into a full time role with our photography as well! Not only will he photograph everything with me, he will get to help with all the other organization and running of this business of ours.

We are still in shock and awe that we have already met our goal of booking 30 weddings for the 2010 calendar year. We still have a few dates late fall and early winter that are open for booking, but we are now jumping in to booking for 2011!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! We are so excited to see what lays ahead on this path of life.

Travis and Kirsten – married!

“It’ll be like ice-fishing. Cold on the outside and really warm on the inside (but it won’t smell like fish)” These were Travis’ words to describe part of what was going to be unique about their wedding. Turns out Travis was right on! Alan and I were sitting on the couch having our morning coffee when we checked the temperature and read an whopping -20 degrees F. Yikes! Fortunately the wind wasn’t too bad.

Alan and I went to college with Kirsten and were absolutely delighted that she and Travis asked us to photograph their wedding. We began the morning at this lovely house for all the getting ready festivities!

and here were some of the warm sights that greeted us!

Travis and Kirsten are such a perfect couple together! Their eyes sparkle and light up when they are around each other!

Trinity Lutheran Church has the most wonderful stained-glass windows…mmmmm

Kirsten has the most wonderful smile that has the ability to light up a room!

I couldn’t decide which ring picture to use so you get two!

Travis and Kirsten, thank you so much for letting us be a part of your beautiful day! We wish you many blessings in your new life together. And we hope you are enjoying Jamaica!!!

John and Kira

Kira and John live in California and are getting married here in St. Paul next May. They found us online and after exchanging a few emails decided to book with us with us for their wedding. We discussed options for doing their engagement session and decided to try to fit it in over the holidays while they were in town visiting John’s family. December 28th we finally got to meet Kira and John in person for the first time…what a treat! They were a delightful couple to photograph, talk with and just be with! We started the session at a sledding hill at Como Park…

We finished our session at a coffee shop with some nice, warm coffee!

Kira and John, it was wonderful to finally meet you in person and photograph your engagement session and just sit and chat! We can’t wait until May!

January 4, 2010 - 11:39 pm John and Kira - These are wonderful! It was such a fun shoot and a great day! Can't wait to see the rest and to see you again at the wedding.

Laurie and Jon

Meet Laurie and Jon…they are a dynamic couple who, like us, have decided to enter into business together! Jon is a writer, Laurie is a business coach and graphic designer. They are bringing their skills together to assist small businesses with marketing and communications that is truly authentic to the business itself. Check out Laurie’s website and give her an email or call if your business needs some of their kind of lovin’!

Alan and I joined Jon and Laurie at their home for a business portrait session. They weren’t looking for a simple single headshot, which was awesome and make our job way more enjoyable! Here’s a little peek at the fun we had…

It snowed the night before so their tree with the little red berries was perfectly pleasing to the eye. We snagged a few pictures out side with the winter colors for their holiday card.

What a fun couple! Thank you so much Laurie and Jon for the honor of photographing you!

December 31, 2009 - 12:35 pm Karen - I absolutely love that a creative business wanted something more than the traditional headshot to advertise itself. And there are no words for the picture of Jon and the squirrel. Awesome.
