We began the session at the home that Brian and Kailyn recently purchased. It’s such a beautiful old home with wonderful character.

While we were inside we took a few with Riley, their not so small puppy!

After a few at their home, we went to Rice Park in St. Paul.

We decided we needed a few pictures with Riley being Riley! At the end of the session, back at their home, we took Riley out for some play time! He was so excited to be out and running!

Saturday afternoon we met up with Seth and Laura down by the stone arch bridge for their engagement session. I love to see couples who are in love and love to have fun and laugh together! Laura and Seth were a delight to photograph! We were very lucky to have temps in the 20s and almost no wind…it made being outside so much easier! Here’s the lovely couple!

Laura’s jacket is oh so wonderful – I wish I had one like it, but I think I have enough coats as it is!

It was even warm enough to find a few puddles of liquid water (as opposed to the frozen water that is quite ubiquitous these days). I love reflections!

We went inside at the end of the session to do a few without coats. Inside we found this fabulous old elevator!

Kira and John live in California and are getting married here in St. Paul next May. They found us online and after exchanging a few emails decided to book with us with us for their wedding. We discussed options for doing their engagement session and decided to try to fit it in over the holidays while they were in town visiting John’s family. December 28th we finally got to meet Kira and John in person for the first time…what a treat! They were a delightful couple to photograph, talk with and just be with! We started the session at a sledding hill at Como Park…

We finished our session at a coffee shop with some nice, warm coffee!

Kira and John, it was wonderful to finally meet you in person and photograph your engagement session and just sit and chat! We can’t wait until May!

You may recognize this studly young man as the ring bearer from Jessica and Rob’s wedding. Jacquelyn and Jessica are sisters making Taylor (Jacquelyn’s son) the recipient of loads of family love! We got to spend the day with the family for Jessica and Rob’s wedding so we got to know Mike, Jacquelyn and Taylor a bit before their engagement session. For their session we went out to Pierz, MN to the farm that Mike grew up on. What a treat! We could have spent the entire day there..it was beautiful! Taylor spent the first half of the session with us. The second half was just for Jacquelyn and Mike and we headed into Lastrup to take some photos at the old gas station and it’s original pumps! Too fun!

At the end of the session they let us in the barns to see some of the baby, and not so baby animals!

Mark and Mai are a perfect couple and a delight to be around! Alan and I have known Mark since our college days when Mark and Alan were roommates. Mark has always been a good friend and we have always enjoyed spending time with him. When he met and began dating Mai, we were delighted…and then when we met Mai our excitement only grew as we saw them bring out the best in each other.  When we heard they were engaged, we couldn’t have been happier!  And then to top it all off they gave us the honor of being their photographers…

We planned a lovely, early October morning for their engagement session, and woke up to snow on the ground…how delightful…or cold. But Mark and Mai didn’t miss a beat. When they got out of the car Mai looked at us and said, “isn’t it nice out here?” Then off we were to take pictures!

Did I mention, they are getting married on our anniversary! Clearly they know a good date when they see one.

Our destination around Como Lake was this dock where last May Mark proposed after an elaborately planned date.

Mai had been hoping to do an outfit change and have some pictures with a dressier feel. Unfortunately when it’s 20 something outside and there is snow all over the ground, dressy clothes with no coats doesn’t work as well as you might think. We decided to schedule another day where we could spend an extra few moments with dressier outfits and hopefully warmer weather. Turned out we got the nice weather…63 and sunny!

Mark and Mai, we are sooooo happy for you and are absolutely delighted to be a part of your day! We wish you many blessings as you prepare for your wedding day!
