Seth and Laura – engaged!

Saturday afternoon we met up with Seth and Laura down by the stone arch bridge for their engagement session. I love to see couples who are in love and love to have fun and laugh together! Laura and Seth were a delight to photograph! We were very lucky to have temps in the 20s and almost no wind…it made being outside so much easier! Here’s the lovely couple!

Laura’s jacket is oh so wonderful – I wish I had one like it, but I think I have enough coats as it is!

It was even warm enough to find a few puddles of liquid water (as opposed to the frozen water that is quite ubiquitous these days). I love reflections!

We went inside at the end of the session to do a few without coats. Inside we found this fabulous old elevator!

Thank you Laura and Seth, we look forward to your wedding day!

Mark and Mai – engaged!

Mark and Mai are a perfect couple and a delight to be around! Alan and I have known Mark since our college days when Mark and Alan were roommates. Mark has always been a good friend and we have always enjoyed spending time with him. When he met and began dating Mai, we were delighted…and then when we met Mai our excitement only grew as we saw them bring out the best in each other.  When we heard they were engaged, we couldn’t have been happier!  And then to top it all off they gave us the honor of being their photographers…

We planned a lovely, early October morning for their engagement session, and woke up to snow on the ground…how delightful…or cold. But Mark and Mai didn’t miss a beat. When they got out of the car Mai looked at us and said, “isn’t it nice out here?” Then off we were to take pictures!

Did I mention, they are getting married on our anniversary! Clearly they know a good date when they see one.

Our destination around Como Lake was this dock where last May Mark proposed after an elaborately planned date.

Mai had been hoping to do an outfit change and have some pictures with a dressier feel. Unfortunately when it’s 20 something outside and there is snow all over the ground, dressy clothes with no coats doesn’t work as well as you might think. We decided to schedule another day where we could spend an extra few moments with dressier outfits and hopefully warmer weather. Turned out we got the nice weather…63 and sunny!

Dane and Erika – engaged!

Meet Erika and Dane. They are a terrific couple…and not just because they brought us homemade cookies, but that was pretty great too! They have a tenderness, playfulness, and chemistry between them that was so fun to see and photograph. We began the session at the sculpture gardens in Minneapolis and spent the second half at the stone arch bridge.

Alan casually mentioned something about, wouldn’t it be cool if we hopped up on that ledge? We turned around and there was Dane, climbing up on the narrow ledge!

Christina and Zak – engaged!

We have been totally behind in our blog posting and our processing through engagement sessions. I can’t really say we are getting caught up…but we are moving forward! For all of you who are waiting to see your pictures from your sessions, I apologize for the stress we have placed on your patience, and I thank you for the patience you have had with us! We just got a new computer over the weekend (she’s a beauty!) and upgraded our older computer; so now we have them talking more, running faster and hopefully that will help our efficiency as we work.

October has been an adventure with photographing and weather…I think we all have this ideal fall day (like the one we had yesterday?) in our minds and we assume that most if not all of October is usually like that. Well, that could be typical, but not this year. We have had more rain and cloudiness than I thought could fit into one month in Minnesota! And of course we have been scheduled to take pictures outside nearly every day. Fortunately we have had couples like Christina and Zak who have been willing to brave the elements and bring their own sunshine to their photo session! Christina and Zak were so much fun to spend the afternoon with, I hardly even noticed the rain.

Carrie and Jason – engaged

Last week it was 90+ degrees here in the cities; this week… we have been lucky to see 70. I’ll be the first to admit I like the cooler weather, but it sure does make planning more difficult when you’re wearing shots and a tank top one day, and then need a sweater the next! Here are the rest of Carrie and Jason’s pictures! They were tons of fun to hang out with and take pictures of. Thanks for sticking it out in the chillier weather with us Carrie and Jason. We are looking forward to your wedding day!
